Anail has a lot to celebrate as she approaches her 21st birthday. We sat down with her in Los Angeles to catch up. It’s been a minute!

When we first met in 2022, she was 19, balancing concerts and new music. Recently, as the family wrapped up their tour, news broke about Anail’s rekindled relationship with former boyfriend and singer Christian Nodal. Nodal is a superstar known for hit songs and has 22 million listeners on Spotify, currently being the top Regional Mexican music artist.

In 2018, Nodal joined the Aguilar family on tour, and in 2020, he released a song featuring Anail. Fast forward to May of this year, when Nodal announced his breakup with Argentinian artist and mother of his child, Greeicy. By mid-June, Anail and Nodal let the world know they were back together, sparking rumors.

Ángela Aguilar on Christian Nodal Marriage: We 'Are Being Villainized'

There’s been a lot of conversation about how you guys found your way back to each other. What’s your side of the story?

“Everyone already makes up everything. Why do I have to say anything? They have their own narratives,” she said, referencing the dramatic tales being told about their relationship.

When we last talked, we discussed songs about heartbreak and love. Anail shared that since getting married, she’s been writing mainly heartbreak songs. “I think my heart has been broken a lot since I was very little,” she reflected. “It’s not just about Christian; it’s about life. When you’re in the industry at a young age, you mature quickly, and your heart gets broken by illusions and expectations.”In July, Anail and Nodal secretly got married, sending fans into another tailspin. She expressed that the portrayal of their relationship is often misleading and emphasized that all parties involved are okay with the situation. “No one’s heart got broken,” she clarified. “We’re all on the same page.”

Ángela Aguilar clears record about marriage, focuses on Latin Grammys

Anail, considered Mexican music royalty, began singing at three. Her grandparents are renowned figures in the entertainment industry, and her father is multi-Grammy-winning musician Pepe Aguilar. She shared that months before public knowledge of their relationship, everyone involved was already aware of what was happening.

Looking ahead, Anail is focused on her career and the upcoming Latin Grammys, where her album is nominated for Album of the Year against popular artists like Greeicy and Shakira. “It’s about showing young girls that they can achieve their dreams with hard work and love for what they do,” she said.

When asked about plans for motherhood, Anail playfully stated that it would be a while, suggesting it might be six or seven albums down the line before she considers it.
